The information contained herein is gathered mainly from Irish Mountain Log, but also other sources, most notably the late Joss Lynam. It is not exhaustive, and may not be entirely correct, so if you have something that should go in, or you know of some error, please let us know.
The aim is to collect "Significant" Irish facts and feats, and herein lies a problem! Is the 73rd Irish ascent of Everest still significant, or is the 22nd Irish ascent of the Capuchin more significant than the first ascent of a straightforward peak in Greenland? We will see how it goes!
The Hillwalking section is mainly to keep a register of Munroists, Irish 3000s in 24 hours, Irish 2000s, Irish 600m, and 500m completists. Other feats are logged, but the WAI and LDWA websites deal more specifically with this area.
The Alpine Section, lists a number of objectives, mainly the well known "CV" routes, sortable by date or code, should you wish to find out who did the first Irish ascent of a high profile route, or indeed who you might know who would have already completed the route you intend to climb!
Expeditions, covers the greater ranges and elsewhere, and can be sorted by date for historical purposes, or by continent, Asia being sub-divided into AsP (Asia Pakistan) AsI(Asia, India) etc , and America into AmN (America North) and AmS (America South). Antartica (Ant), includes Australasia, and Africa and Europe are separate.
