Bumblies Day Out
Here's what the so called E-men got up to last weekend! On Friday (St paddy's) Frasier, Paul, Siobhan (Paul's Girlfriend), Big Al and Myself headed to Kinnagoe Bay.
Paul, Siobhan and Frasier did a 2 pitch route on the Galleon which I think was either Orange Audience or Golden Salamander, either way no-one was too impressed with the route.
Frasier led his First route in about a decade(!), again I'm unsure of its name but I think it was a V-diff.
Al cruised up Austin's window E1 5b and and made perhaps the 3rd or 4th ascent of Frigate E1 5b on the crow's nest. Yours truly finally led Forked Lightning Vs 4c [pic] and midnight dilemna E1 5b, taking a 15 foot whipper off the latter when a hold broke after the crux. The grade of the route is now thought to be E10 7a!! I would strongly suggest that anyone who wishes to climb this route in the future (and more importantly the belayer) wears a helmet. There are also a few question marks over the safety of the abseil block on top of the crow's nest as it's a bit wobbly!
On Saturday we, minus Siobhan, visited Fairhead. Paul and Frasier did a 2 pitch VS called Odyssey (I think). Al and myself did Gerona VS and Hell's Kitchen HVS, alternating pitches. I, still suffering the affects of the previous day's fall climbed at a speed normally associated with snails(!) and we narrowly escaped being benighted on Hell's Kitchen! Sorry Al.
Anyway, that was our weekend, sorry to anyone not informed but both trips were spur of the moment. Any future plans for the E-men(!) will be Public Knowledge!
