Congratulations to Alan Tees

Alan Tees has been appointed Supreme Leader of the Mountaineering Council of Ireland (MCI) which proves that it is not just a cosy club for bobble-hatted bumblies and lonely ramblers seeking middle-aged love after they've exhausted all the possibilities of the local horticultural society.

Alan is a committed mountaineer and rock-climber who continues, whilst well into his sixth decade, to put up new routes on rock and to add seriously challenging peaks to his tick-list in the Alps, Himalayas and other ranges.

Alan is a popular personality in the Irish mountaineering scene and has been pivotal in the success of the Colmcille Climbing Club. If he brings the same common sense and energy to the MCI it can only be force for the good. We wish him all the best in his new rôle.
