High mountain reports. Summer 2002. Reports are filtering through to your humble webmaster that sundry (sun-dried?) Colmcillers have been achieving great things abroad. The problem is that the folks concerned are too modest to blow their own trumpets so it's left to me to tell yeese the craic. First off we have Wild Bill Le-Clerc Gigot, ascensionist of a 6000m + peak in Bolivia [photo]. None of your nancy-boy snow-plods for Bill, this was real climbing involving tools and crampons (and not a little panting, I guess). Next we have our very own Mr _Psyclone who, amongst other things, knocked off a 4000m hill in the Alps. Be wary of mentioning the subject to him, though, because, although his modesty knows no bounds, it is rather difficult to stop him telling the tale once he starts. Along with _Psyke were the brothers Millar and Donna Ryan, all of whom got near the top with varying degrees of difficulty. Last but not least, vaguer stories have been heard about Geoff Thomas flexing his bulging muscles in Chamonix, Dave and Al Millar coolly ticking off hard bolted routes and 200 Limerick men running riot in France's domestic swimming pools. Don't forget where you heard it first. |
