Al Millar's Report. Fairhead. 13th May 2000. Jason Frazer, Rodney Moore, Donna Ryan and myself went to Fairhead on another glorious day. Rodders and I did Cuchulainn E2 4c (First pitch of roaring meg and brilliant as recommended by various people) 5b 5c. The middle pitch led by Rodders was gloomy, awkward and demanding. When I got to the top of it the sun was upon us and the top pitch was there to be climbed in the finest conditions imaginable. Meanwhile Frazer and Donna had sailed up Girona VS 4c and were at the sun drenched prow area queuing up for "The Fence" VS 4c (great to see it) by the time we had gone round to do "Midnight Cruiser" E1 5b next on Rodney's hit list. But there was a party on that too, great to see that too and not only because I got to do "Embankment" E2 5c. Then we went home. EXTRA EXTRA Read all ahbaht it. On Saturday, 13th May [big] Ali millar, Rodney Moore, Donna Ryan and myself [Jason Frazer] took yet another day trip to that place we love so well, Fairhead. The sun was scorching and the chalk was fading fast, Donna seconded me on Girona 4c, 4c, excellent route which deserves its stars. We managed to sneak The Fence 4c in again, a brilliant pumpy route, excellent jamming and bridging. The only thing that was missing was the ice cool vending machine. Thirsty work when the suns out, but let's not knock a good thing. Rodney and Ali also had a great day's climbing which you can read about above. |
