Dunmore Head - 19th February 2000
We, Frankie McCloskey and Coumba McLaughlin, went to Dunmore Head (Culdaff, Co. Donegal). The sun was splitting the rocks on the East side. However, Orange Blossom had still not dried out. We decided to start on the far right hand side of the Main Crag.
To warm up Frankie led 'Bird's Nest Bulge' (S). By this stage the sun had warmed up and Frankie decided to get the 1st sun tan of the year, he removed his shirt!
Then Frankie led 'Orange Blossom' (HS 4b). Columba then led Diversion (HS 4b). Then we had the tae. We chatted and listened respectively.
Frankie than led 'Peabob' (VS 4c). Nothing would do the bauld Frankie as 'Calamity Collins' (VS 5a) was staring him in the face. So up he went. Columba followed and as the book says - knackered on top. Frankie had a a call of nature and decided to solo the 'SRS Slab' (V.Diff) first. Then he had the brainwave of finishing the day with 'Grecian Gift' (VS 4c). Why not? said Columba. Up went Frankie and with fleeting and nimble feet slipped over the crux. Columba, followed, but not as speedily, well somebody had to get the gear and there was only two of us.
A great day was had.
Slán go fóill, Columba
