The Millars in Wales
I am just back from the trip to Wales. Myself and Dave went to Pembroke last Thursday and pumped ourselves stupid during the next four days. We camped in the beautiful church field before the crowds arrived on Friday. The first two days were showery with high seas and huge waves being a constant anxiety for the second but we darted out between the tides and the showers and did some fine routes at St Govans, Army Dreamers HVS, Incest is best E1, Arrow E1, and Stennis head, Manzula, E1 and others I shall have to consult Dave to remember the names.
The next two days were glorious Pembroke days as I remember them from Easters and summers before, with calming seas, blue skies and sunburn; belayers lying sunning on ledges above the sea at Bosherton head, The Castle and St Govans East. Bakers door, War games, First Blood, Vice is Nice, Cool hand blues band and others.
The climbers were out in force when the weather improved and we met people I knew in Sheffield and new climbers, Mike and Mark a father and son party from Carlisle and enjoyed the crack in the pub, just a few hundred yards from the campsite. There was a party there from Dublin but we did not get to talk to them. By Sunday evening we were wrecked, well I was anyway, and Monday was deemed a rest day and a day for returning to North Wales, where Dave lives, to leave us in good fettle for some routes on Gogarth on Tuesday. Alas it piddled all day Tuesday and we watched American History X and Exorcist on video instead. But all in all a very good trip.
All the Best
