CLIMBERS

Colmcille Climbers

Apologies to all who have noticed that 3 months have passed since the last web site update. It's been a combination of indolence, apathy and the fact that the server is almost full. I have 20MB of space and it is all used bar a few kB. I want to reorganise the whole thing so that users can add their own reports and photos. This is not a particularly difficult task (except that I have to store the interactive bits on a different server, as I currently do with the guidebook section) but to make it work sensibly I really want the existing pages to be incorporated into the new system. This is a huge job because there are more than 500 photos and at least 400 html pages.

Please bear with me, I will get round to it (and I'll probably enjoy it when I start). I am considering buying server space for www.ColmcilleClimbers.com so that I can just transfer the kaboodle over and have the added benefit of transferring 20MB at broadband speeds instead of modem speeds. Perhaps I'll have a PayPal button on the site so that all grateful readers can cough up a few pennies towards the hosting expenses - profits (not likely, but one can hope) could go to the Colmciller coffers.

This is just a long-winded way of saying that the site has got a bit too big for me to handle easily, but that I can manage it if I rationalise things. I'm kinda proud of it and I certainly want it to keep growing - when I put up the first 2-3 pages I never dreamt there would be a 4th, let alone a 400th. Keep sending me pics and reports and I'll use them sometime soon, I promise. Thanks if you've read this far and watch this space.

Pete
