Letter from Raja About Trip to Spiti

History of the area

There have been many groups going in the Manirang valley including Harish Kapadia of course. I have been to Manirang myself twice (2006 and 2009). But none have gone into the Singekang valley which immediate North of Manirang North (6593m). You will notice peak 6223m lying North of Manirang, this is on the watershed ridge of Singekang and Manirang valleys.

Approach

We want to drive up to the road head village of Mane Yongma from Kaza (the head quarters of Spiti). After that we will follow the trail towards Needang (shown in the map). After crossing Pomrang, we will follow the stream coming from our true right and enter the Singekang valley. This valley has no name as of now, but I am just calling it Singekang valley as the peak (6009m) at the very head of this valley is called Singekang according to my map.

I have increased the number of days in the plan. Basically increased the number of climbing days by another 7 days. This will definitely help in acclimatization and ensure some summits. The cost has actually come down ( in spite of the increase in days) as we are going to have more than 2 climbers.
